Fluorescent brightener 28 is used for the staining of fungi and as a viability stain.
- Colourless organic compound that fluoresces (clear bluish) under ultraviolet radiation
- Working Concentration 0.05–0.20%
- Related structurally to Fluorescent Brightener 9 (Calcofluor White MR)
- Originally used in plant tissue studies
Industrial uses as a fluorescent brightening agent for cellulose and polyamide fabrics, paper, in detergents and soaps. This product is related structurally to Fluorescent Brightner 9 (Calcofluor White MR), which was used by Jefferies and Belcher and by Maeda and Ischida in plant tissue studies.
