Applications: Ready-Red™ is used either to remove traces of phenol from the aqueous phase or can be mixed directly with AquaPhenol™ (void volume in AquaPhenol™ bottle is adapted to this purpose).
Product Overview: Ready-Red™ is a Chloroform:isoamyl alcohol 24:1 with red dye solution which facilitates separation of organic and aqueous phases. It improves recovery.
Product Description: Ready-Red™ is a coloured mixture of chloroform and isoamyl alcohol. The red colour (non toxic dye), facilitates the visualization and the separation of aqueous and organic phases during nucleic acids purification by means of phenolic extractions. The red dye of Ready-Red™ is not water-soluble and does not interfere with the quality of the nucleic acids purified. The nucleic acids recovered can be used in all standard experiments of molecular biology such as sequencing, PCR, cloning, transformations, etc.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Ready-Red™ is designed to be used for purification of nucleic acids.
Ready-Red™ can be used:
- either after phenolic extraction, in order to remove traces of phenol from the aqueous phase. In this case, two or three Ready-
Red™ extractions have to be carried out after phenolic extraction according to your standard protocol.
- or immediately with AquaPhenol™ for the extraction of proteins from crude DNA. The packaging of both AquaPhenol™ and
Ready-Red™ have been designed to make mixing as easy as possible. The 500ml bottles contain only 250 ml liquid, making it
possible to mix for instance Ready-Red™ with AquaPhenol™ bottle by simply pouring 1 volume of Ready-Red™ to 1 volume of
Aquaphenol™ into the same bottle (after eventual buffering of AquaPhenol™ using pH Maker™ solutions, see AquaPhenol™
datasheet).
After AquaPhenol™/Ready-Red™ extraction, any lingering traces of phenol have to be removed out of the aqueous phase by
means of two or three subsequent extractions using pure Ready-Red™.
